The Tempest

by William Shakespeare

The Scott Reed Theater, Minocqua, WI

June 17 -18, 2023

“I’ll break my staff…and deeper than any plummet sound, I’ll drown my book.”

“What exactly is this tempest?” Is it a literal storm?  Is it a magical projection?  Or - is it an embodied state of trauma?  Like so many of us, Prospera desperately wants control of her life - but until the illusion of control shatters, she cannot find release from the past that has so embittered and imprisoned her.  By breaking her staff and drowning her book, she lets go – and in so doing she begins the work of forgiveness and healing.  In The Tempest we encounter betrayal, revenge, magic, love and forgiveness; a perfect theatrical storm of human nature that offers each of us wisdom and grace for our own journeys towards healing.
